Late 18th-Century Neoclassical Carved Wooden Frame

An elegant late 18th-century frame in the Neoclassical style.

Description

Distinguished by its strong architectural profile and restrained decorative character. The broad, gently recessed moulding is enriched with hand-carved acanthus leaves and stylised foliate ornaments, arranged symmetrically around the corners.

The frame has never been restored and retains remnants of its original gilded finish beneath a beautifully aged, deep brown surface. Natural wear and areas of exposed wood give it an exceptional patina and preserve its authentic historical character.

Style: Neoclassical
Materials: Hand-carved wood with remnants of original gilding
Frame dimensions inside: 42,5/34,5 cm
Frame dimensions outside: 51/43 cm
Depth: 3.5 cm
Period: Late 18th century
Condition: Authentic unrestored condition, with wear, losses to the gilding and small age-related defects, clearly visible in the photographs. These do not compromise the frame’s physical or aesthetic integrity. Structurally sound, with a gorgeous original patina.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google.
