Memento Mori – Oil on Canvas in a 19th-Century Frame
A contemporary painting with a timeless subject, set within an unusual tabernacle-style frame from the second half of the 19th century.
Description
Memento mori means “remember that you must die”: an invitation to reflect on the passing of time and the value of life. The small circular painting and its architectural frame make a memorable pairing.
We chose this piece for the quiet force of its subject and the character of the antique frame. During a recent restoration, several structural elements at the base of the frame were replaced. The front remains intact, with none of its elements replaced.
