Description

Van der Nat captures the solemn expression of the sitter with sensitivity, while the restrained palette of warm greys, earthy browns and softened flesh tones reinforces the painting’s contemplative atmosphere.

We chose this work for its humanity, quiet spiritual presence, and beautifully observed face and hands. The monumental wooden frame, executed in an ornate Louis XIV style with moulded floral and foliate ornamentation, complements the painting and gives it an impressive architectural presence.

The painting and frame are both in excellent vintage condition. During an earlier restoration, the original stretcher was replaced. The frame retains a beautiful aged patina.

Ik zocht een aantal lijsten met afwijkende maten voor schilderijen die ik al heel lang in wilde lijsten. Nadat ik contact opgenomen had, vond ik precies wat ik zocht. Een andere lijst werd keurig voor mij op maat gemaakt. Aantrekkelijke prijzen en alles werd keurig verpakt thuis afgeleverd.
